How to cook delicious dumplings?

Dumplings are quite a popular and favorite dish. And if you still do not know how to cook it, then you will definitely learn!

Dumplings are a flour dish, which usually consists of flour and eggs, but other ingredients can also be used. They are often added to soups, but they may well be a side dish or an independent dish (for example, if you supplement them with stuffing). In addition, dumplings are often part of the dessert.

There is no reliable information about the motherland of dumplings, and today such a dish is present in the most diverse national cuisines of the world: Russian, Ukrainian, Belarusian, Czech, Estonian, Polish, Bashkir, Tatar and even Finnish, Austrian and German.

How to cook?

Each hostess has its own secrets of preparing such a seemingly simple dish like dumplings. Below are some interesting options.

Option One

It is worth starting with the usual classic dumplings, any hostess will definitely cope with such a dish!

For preparation it will be required:

  • 1 egg;
  • 5-6 tablespoons of flour (with a slide);
  • 50 ml of any liquid.

Cooking method:

  1. Pour flour into a bowl, make a well in the center and break an egg into it.
  2. Next, add the liquid. This can be, for example, broth, plain water or milk. It all depends on how you plan to use the dumplings in the future. If you want to add them to the soup, then use the broth, which boiled vegetables or meat.
  3. Knead a rather steep dough and make balls or sausages out of it.

Option Two

You can make delicious and savory garlic dumplings. To do this you will need:

  • 5 tablespoons of flour;
  • 1 egg;
  • 3 teaspoons of mayonnaise;
  • 3 cloves of garlic;
  • salt to taste (optional).


  1. Garlic must be cleaned and chopped in any way, for example, using a garlic press or a blender.
  2. In a bowl, pour in the flour, break the egg into it and add mayonnaise and chopped garlic.
  3. Knead thick dough, make dumplings and use them for their intended purpose.

Option Three

This is a recipe for cheese dumplings, which are likely to be very tasty.

Here's what you need:

  • 150 grams of any hard cheese;
  • 1 egg;
  • 3 tablespoons flour.


  1. Cheese must be grated.
  2. Add egg and flour to the cheese, mix well, to make a dense mass.
  3. From the finished cheese dough you can make dumplings and add them to different dishes.

Fourth option

Appetizing and nutritious are potato dumplings with onions. To prepare them you will need:

  • 5 medium sized potatoes;
  • 1-2 eggs;
  • 7 tablespoons of flour;
  • 1 onion;
  • salt to taste;
  • vegetable oil.


  1. Potatoes must be boiled until ready in a uniform, then chopped into a blender or grated.
  2. Peel onions, finely chop and fry in a pan in vegetable oil to a light golden hue.
  3. Put the potato mass in a bowl, add the fried onion, flour and egg, mix everything thoroughly.
  4. Blind out the obtained dense mixture of dumplings and use them as planned.

Option Five

You can make hearty chicken dumplings. For this you will need:

  • 300 grams of chicken fillet;
  • 5 tablespoons of flour;
  • 2 eggs;
  • greenery;
  • salt to taste


  1. Chicken fillet must be washed and either chopped to a blender until smooth, or skipped several times through a meat grinder.
  2. Chop the greens.
  3. Add flour, eggs and greens to the minced chicken, mix everything well.
  4. If you cook the soup, then scoop the chicken dough with a spoon and dip the portions into the boiling broth.

Option Six

Try cooking meat dumplings. Here's what it takes:

  • 5 medium sized potatoes;
  • 200 grams of minced meat;
  • 1 onion;
  • half a glass of flour;
  • 1 egg;
  • pepper and salt to taste;
  • greens to taste.


  1. First do some stuffing. Peel and chop the onion. Wash greens, dry and chop. Mix the stuffing with onions, herbs, salt and pepper, mix everything thoroughly until smooth.
  2. Now cook the dough. Peel the potatoes and rub on the finest grater. Juice must be squeezed through gauze or cloth, it will not be needed. Mix the obtained potato mixture with flour and egg, knead the dense dough.
  3. Form a dough out of the dough, place a little meat filling in the center and join the edges, then form a ball. Also do the remaining dumplings.
  4. Add the dumplings to the soup or boil in the broth and serve to the table.

Seventh option

No less appetizing get semolina sugary dumplings.

Ingredients that you will need:

  • a glass of semolina;
  • 1 egg;
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar;
  • a third cup of milk.


  1. Egg must be thoroughly whipped with powdered sugar.
  2. Then add milk to the mixture, whisk everything again.
  3. Continuing the whipping process, start adding the semolina.
  4. In the end, you should have a fairly dense dough. Form dumplings from it and, for example, cook them in sweetened milk (get a dessert milk soup) or fry.

How to serve?

Most often, dumplings are added to the soup, and then it becomes even more tasty and satisfying. But they can also play the role of a full-fledged side dish for meat or fish. And if you put the stuffing inside, then everything else will be superfluous. But sweet dumplings with jam, sugar syrup or fruit sauce will be a wonderful dessert!

  1. It is not at all necessary to cook dumplings, if desired, they can also be cooked in other ways, for example, put out in a sauce, fry in oil or even cook steamed. If you want, you can even bake them in the oven, everything will depend on your preferences and imagination.
