What is the risk of leukemia death?

Instruction
The chances of recovery from leukemia depend strongly on numerous individual factors and on the form of the disease. The difference becomes especially noticeable if we compare acute leukemia and its chronic variant.
An acute form of leukemia is usually treated with intensive chemotherapy, after which, as a rule, patients usually have significant relief. Complete remission can usually be achieved in 60-80% of registered cases. But the story unfortunately does not end there. In about 80% of patients with acute myeloid leukemia, after a certain time, the disease returns again, and a so-called relapse occurs. But in patients with acute lymphatic leukemia, this figure is slightly lower, that is, only 50-60% of those cured after the first visit of patients become victims of relapse. The disease usually returns within the first 2 years after the main course of treatment. The longer the remission lasts, the less the likelihood of relapse becomes. And if the course of treatment included stem cell transplantation, from 40 to 60% of patients recover completely, that is, acute leukemia is not a sentence at all and the chances of recovery from this disease greatly exceed the probability of death.
But if we talk about chronic leukemia, the situation begins to look a little different. At least for the reason that this form of the disease is characterized by a slightly lower percentage of registered cures. The only type of therapy that can affect the outcome of the disease is the same, well-proven and in acute form, stem cell transplantation. When carried out immediately after the discovery of the disease, about 70% of patients experience the first 5 years with success, of which 50% can be considered finally cured. If the transplantation is performed at a later stage of the disease, the survival rate is reduced to 30% of patients who managed to survive the three-year milestone without relapses.
The problem is aggravated by the fact that people with chronic lymphatic leukemia haveas a rule, greatly weakened by immunity, which immediately makes them vulnerable to a huge number of infections that are harmless to a healthy person and deadly for people with leukemia. The standard form of this type of therapy is aimed not so much at a complete recovery, as at maintaining a stable state, and is able to drag on for many years. For a long time, the patient may not practically feel the breath of a deadly disease, and during these periods there is no point in torturing the body with aggressive therapies. Of course, his life from the moment of illness will undergo certain changes, and yet it will be life, which means that it is impossible to give thoughts of death to spoil the impression of it.
